Austin is Nature Friendly

July 27th, 2005 — 8:41am

This story is a month old now, but I just haven’t had a chance to post it. So, in case you missed it…

According to a June 24 Austin Business Journal article,

Nature-Friendly Communities highlights areas that protect wildlife, landscape and natural resources. Its author, Chris Duerksen of Denver, hopes the book will be a guide for government officials to protect the environment while promoting economic growth.

“In the face of rampant development which is eating up America’s open space, communities have employed creative conservation measures that actually promote economic growth and vitality — not inhibit it,” Duerksen says.

It’s important to know that growth that is detrimental to Austin’s unique land and water can also harm our economy. Desirable employers choose Austin because it is a great place to live.
